School Gym – an inspiration
The  school has a fully functional and well-used gym, sponsored by Virgin Active. The Gym was honored by the presence of the billionaire philanthropist and founder of Virgin Active Sir Richard Branson last year (2013), when he actually used some of the equipment to "pump some muscle". A demonstration of how being active can lift the spirits was proven when a group of 50 Lavender Hill learners participated in a group training and exercise session. Proof of this change is already being seen at the school with the Class of 2012 achieving a 88% pass rate. Lavenderhill High school bid farewell to June Orsmond in an emotional breakfast function on Thursday 29 May 2014. June was a founding member of the Lavenderhill Development Trust and together with the the Wynberg Rotary Club helped to secure significant funding for the many special facilities that the school now enjoys.
